Africa Climate Collaborative Project at the University of Ghana

Welcome to the Africa Climate Collaborative Project at the University of Ghana
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the official website of the Africa Climate Collaborative Project at the University of Ghana. This platform showcases our shared commitment to advancing climate research, innovation, and capacity‑building for Ghana and the African continent.

We are proud to acknowledge the generous support of the Mastercard Foundation, which has awarded USD 28.4 million to the University of Ghana as part of the Africa Climate Collaborative Project initiative. This transformative investment will empower the University to lead cutting‑edge climate research, strengthen community resilience, drive policy innovation, and support the next generation of African climate leaders. The African Climate Collaborative Project stands as a bold response to the urgent climate challenges facing our nation and continent, and this partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey toward sustainable development.

The core objective of project is the empowerment of young people, ages between 18 to 35 years particularly women, refugees, displaced youth, and youth with disabilities in West Africa. The initiative aims to equip them to conduct cutting edge research, lead climate-resilient development, advance circular economies, and drive green economic growth, while also building capacity and generating policies to foster sustainability.

The Africa Climate Collaborative Project is part of a broader Higher Education Climate Collaborative funded by the Mastercard Foundation, that includes the University of Cambridge, Makerere University, and the University of Cape Town. Therefore, University of Ghana will be collaborating with these international institutions, as well as relevant Ghana Government agencies, Stakeholder groups, Civil Society Organizations and partner universities.
