Africa Climate Collaborative Project – Research Partners

The Africa Climate Collaborative Project at the University of Ghana continues to strengthen its mandate of advancing climate research, resilience building, and sustainable development through strategic partnerships with leading institutions across Ghana and the sub‑region. These collaborations enhance interdisciplinary research, capacity building, data generation, and community-focused interventions that support climate adaptation and mitigate environmental risks.

Below are the distinguished research partners with whom the University of Ghana has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), alongside additional institutional collaborators supporting climate-related research and innovation.

1. Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (ACECoR)

ACECoR supports high-impact research and training focused on coastal degradation, marine ecosystems, disaster risk resilience, and climate change mitigation. As a World Bank–recognized Centre of Excellence, ACECoR contributes to safeguarding coastal ecosystems and enhancing scientific knowledge on coastal vulnerability.
 

2. Dodowa Health Research Centre (DHRC)

DHRC conducts high-quality health and demographic research in southern Ghana, addressing maternal and child health, malaria, infectious diseases, and community health systems—areas deeply affected by climate variability.
 

3. Ejura Agricultural College and Mechanization Centre (EACMC)

EACMC trains agricultural professionals in climate-smart agriculture, mechanization, and modern food systems—key pillars for climate adaptation in Ghana’s agrarian communities.
 

4. Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC)

KHRC drives multidisciplinary research on climate-sensitive diseases, maternal and child health, air pollution impacts, and public health preparedness. Their climate–health studies directly support national adaptation policies.
 

5. Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC)

NHRC is a nationally recognized hub for demographic and health research, addressing climate-linked health challenges such as meningitis outbreaks, vector-borne diseases, and environmental health dynamics.
 

6. West African Centre for Water, Irrigation and Sustainable Agriculture (WACWISA)

WACWISA advances research in water resource management, irrigation engineering, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience. The centre is instrumental in developing innovative technologies and practical solutions for water and food security.

8. UG Nkabom Collaborative
