Commissioning of the upgraded High-Performance Computing (HPC) system

Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, in recognition of the Mastercard Foundation’s support through the Africa Climate Collaborative at the University of Ghana during the commissioning of the upgraded High-Performance Computing (HPC) system.

The HPC system was initially installed in 2017 by the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) under the World Bank ACE project. The Africa Climate Collaborative has committed USD 500,000 to renew and upgrade the system to strengthen research, innovation and advanced computational capacity in support of its programmes and the broader academic and research community. The facility will serve as a shared research resource for the Africa Climate Collaborative, WACCBIP, and the University community, providing advanced computing capabilities for research in areas including climate science, engineering, health sciences, data analytics, and other computationally intensive disciplines.
