About
Sylvia Salama Opoku is an environmental health and sustainability researcher and Project Administrator for the Africa Climate Collaborative Project at the University of Ghana, where she plays a central role in coordinating and implementing project activities. She contributed to the development of the project in collaboration with the proposal development team and supports high-impact, interdisciplinary climate, health, and environmental initiatives at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) and the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS). Her experience spans project administration, field-based environmental research, and cross-institutional collaboration across Africa, Europe, and North America. Her research focuses on the intersections of environmental systems, bacterial pathogenesis, and infectious disease transmission, applying a transdisciplinary approach to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenges in vulnerable communities in Africa.
